BREAKING NEWS: Major Crash Draws Emergency Response in Rockford
ROCKFORD, Ill. — September 26, 2026 — German Daily News was on the scene Saturday morning following a serious multi-vehicle crash in Rockford that brought sheriff’s deputies, paramedics and emergency vehicles to the area of Riverside Boulevard and Forest Hills Road.
Photographs taken at the scene show at least two heavily damaged vehicles, including a black sedan with substantial damage to its front passenger-side area and a black SUV with significant damage to its rear and side.
Several emergency vehicles from North Park Paramedics were present, along with law-enforcement personnel. Debris from the collision was scattered across the roadway, and traffic was affected while emergency crews worked at the scene.
The photographs also show airbags deployed inside the vehicles, indicating the force of the collision. The number and severity of injuries have not yet been independently confirmed.
At this time, the circumstances leading to the crash—including which vehicles had the right of way and whether any citations or charges will be issued—remain unclear.
